Terms of service
These are the terms for using BitcoinTipJar. They're short because the service is simple: we make tip pages, QR codes and posters for Lightning addresses, and the money goes from wallet to wallet. What we keep about you is on the About page.
Payments
When someone tips, their wallet pays the recipient's wallet directly. We never hold anyone's money, so we can't take a cut, and we can't move, freeze, refund or reverse a payment. Lightning payments are final.
A tip is between the tipper and the person they tip. Questions about one, including refunds, are between the two of them, and any tax on tips you receive is yours to handle.
Your address, your wallet
You're responsible for the Lightning address you use and the wallet behind it. Check it before you share your jar: a tip sent to the wrong address can't be recovered, by us or anyone else.
Short links
A short link you claim, like bitcointipjar.com/yourname, is yours to use while you keep to these terms. Your edit link is the key to it, so keep it safe; if you lose it, we can send it again to the email you gave us. We may refuse or take back a name that poses as someone else, uses someone else's brand, or would mislead people.
What a jar can't be used for
Nothing illegal, no posing as someone you're not, and no scams, phishing or malware. We take down a jar that breaks these rules. To report one, email abuse@bitcointipjar.com with its link.
Paid features
Some features cost money. You'll see what you get and the price before you pay. If a paid feature doesn't work as described, email team@bitcointipjar.com within 30 days and we'll fix it or refund you.
Building on it
The tip page links, the embed and the webhook in our developer docs are free to use. Before you rely on a payment, for instance to release something someone paid for, check it with the wallet's own verify link.
The service
We work to keep BitcoinTipJar running, but it comes as it is, without guarantees. A wallet, the Lightning network or this site can be down, and we're not responsible for tips missed or lost because of that, or for anything that happens inside a wallet we don't run. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
Changes
We may update these terms, and the date at the top says when. If you keep using BitcoinTipJar after a change, the new terms apply.
